Bethesda Academy Farm and Gardens is a working farm at historic Bethesda Academy in Southside Savannah. Agriculture has played a major role in the school since its founding in the 1700's. These days the farm is focusing more on sustainable agriculture with our 4 acre market garden which we are transitioning to Organic Certification. In addition to standard horticultural crops, the farm also has a flock of chickens and a herd of goats which will be providing eggs this year and cheeses in the futures. Our 1500 square foot greenhouse is also used for starting seedling s to sell to the public. The farm also has many education programs at the school and a focus on community building and education. In the spring, the farm will host educational classes and farm events to enrich our community and increase awareness of ways that everyone can help to build a more sustainable and healthy food system.
