Farmsgiving

Join us in making a difference this Farmsgiving! Host a Farmsgiving event and support Forsyth Farmers’ Market

Plan a Farmsgiving event on behalf of Forsyth Farmers’ Market!

What is Farmsgiving?

  • Farmsgiving is the Forsyth Farmers’ Market take on the popular “friendsgiving.” Farmsgiving is a fundraising event where about 15-20 families around the area invite their friends for a night of fun to celebrate the mission of the Forsyth Farmers Market.

What’s expected of the host?

  • Dinners can be as casual as a potluck in the backyard to as formal as a sit-down party with silver and china.  You have full control over your party, including the guest list.  We do ask that you invite your friends to a party with knowledge that your dinner is a fundraiser for the Forsyth Farmers’ Market.  Also, we would like you to source as much as possible from the Saturday market.  While our goal for each party is $1,000, we are thankful for any party that raises any amount of money.  Farmsgiving is Forsyth Farmers' Market's most notable fall fundraiser.  COVID has impacted this event for the last three years, leaving a hole in our budget.  Whether you are comfortable hosting an in-person event or would just prefer to do some peer to peer fundraising, we need you to help us continue our work!

What is the mission of the Forsyth Farmers Market?

  • The mission of the Forsyth Farmers' Market is to promote understanding and participation in a local food system that supports sustainable production and increases access to local products. We fulfill the mission by hosting a market every Saturday in Forsyth Park.  The market supports 60 farms and small businesses a year. Farm Truck 912 (FT912), our mobile farmers market makes weekly stops to help bring fresh produce to food-insecure neighborhoods throughout Savannah.  912 Food Farmacy (912FF), our produce prescription program works with four local clinics to help medically at-risk residents learn about healthy food options and implement the change into their lifestyles. All of our programs accept and double SNAP/EBT dollars.

When is Farmsgiving?

  • Farmsgiving 2023 will occur Novemberish.  It is entirely up to the host.

What will Forsyth Farmers’ Market provide?

  • The Forsyth Farmers’ Market will provide donation cards for your guests.  We can provide you with any information you may need about our work.  We can also create a custom fundraising webpage for your Farmsgiving event. Staff can assist you with what will be available at the market right before your dinner/event.  If your goal is at least $1,000 and you wish, Forsyth Farmers’ Market will send a staff or board member to come speak during the event.

Where does the money go?

  • All money goes to fund the programs of Forsyth Farmers' Market, Inc. that support local farmers and increase food access in our community, including the Saturday market, FT912, 912FF, education programs and much more.

We would love to have you host an event this year!  Every dollar raised is so important to our community... and by hosting this event, you can help in our efforts to support local farmers and increase access to fresh food in our community!
